If you’ve ever wanted to feel more confident using tools around your home but didn’t know where to start, this workshop is for you.
The DIY Her Way Intro to DIY Workshop is a hands-on training day designed to help women learn the basics of DIY in a relaxed and supportive environment.
You do not need any previous experience using tools.
We guide you step-by-step through the fundamentals so you can leave feeling confident tackling simple jobs at home.
Throughout the day you will learn how tools work, how to safely drill into walls, and how to complete small DIY tasks that many homeowners struggle with.
By the end of the workshop, you will have used power tools and completed several practical tasks.

How to confidently use a drill
Understanding drill bits and fixings
How wall plugs work
How to drill into different wall types
Mounting hooks, brackets and small shelves
Measuring and marking basics
Practical DIY tips for everyday household jobs

What Happens After the Workshop?
For some women, the workshop is simply a chance to gain confidence doing DIY at home.
Others discover they enjoy it and want to continue learning.
After the workshop, women who wish to progress can choose between two further training options.
DIY Confidence Course A two-day practical course designed for women who want to build stronger DIY skills for their own homes.
2. DIY Her Way Handywomen Programme A fully funded training programme supported by Surrey County Council for women interested in using DIY skills to start earning money as a local handywoman.
